We encourage all of our employees to get involved with the organizations that are important to them personally, and we actively support them. The following is a list of charitable and community organizations with whom our firm and individual employees are involved. You will find useful information about the mission and goals of each organization, how to contact them, and how to contact the TimHaahs employee directly involved with the organization.
American Cancer Society
The mission of the American Cancer Society is to be a "nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service." Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the society has branches in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. They also operate about 3400 local offices. The American Cancer Society was founded in 1913. Then, it was called the American Society for the Control of Cancer [by 15 physicians and businessmen in New York City.] Their current name was adopted in 1945. Activities include providing grants to researchers, running public health advertising campaigns, and organizing projects such as the Relay for Life, Great American Smokeout, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and Daffodil Days.

The mission of the American Heart Association is: “Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.” The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency. The American Heart Association made its public debut in late 1948 during a network radio contest. A small national staff in New York City then began to organize American Heart Association divisions across the country. They launched the first national fund-raising campaign the following year in February 1949, raising $2.7 million. Since then, the American Heart Association has rapidly grown in size, as well as in their efforts to spread their message. Over the years, the American Heart Association has developed guidelines for the nation’s healthcare system, as well as supported the federal government’s attempt to improve healthcare. Timothy Haahs & Associates, Inc. has been a proud supporter of the American Heart Association for many years. Tim Haahs involvement includes participation in the annual Heart Walk, which raises money and awareness for cardiovascular disease.

Established as a men's shelter by Temple University’s founder, Dr. Russell Conwell, it remains one of the oldest nonprofit organizations in Philadelphia. Brotherhood Mission Ministries works to confront the isolation and disaffiliation of homeless men, and facilitates their return to mainstream society by providing the basic necessities of life. They also promote improving vocational skills, strengthening values, and establishing a positive social network. In addition, the Mission provides access to healthcare, job training and placement, and treatment for mental illness and substance abuse.

Through the work of Habitat, thousands of low-income families have found new hope in the form of affordable housing. KWC provides counseling and a temporary shelter for battered women and their children. They also provide English translation assistance to women in court appearances, hospital and doctor visits. The center also runs ESL classes around the Philadelphia region providing a learning ground for Korean immigrants to learn English, to help them adjust to their immigrant life faster.

Kristi House provides a healing environment for all child victims of sexual abuse and their families, regardless of income, through prevention, treatment and coordination of services with our community partners. Kristi House strives to end the epidemic of child sexual abuse in Miami-Dade County by healing those who have been victims and breaking the cycle of abuse for future generations. For 38 years, Switchboard of Miami, Inc., a private, 501 ( c ) (3), non-profit organization, has provided information and referral services, suicide prevention, and comprehensive telephone crisis counseling to residents of Miami-Dade County, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition to offering the only tri-lingual helpline in the country, Switchboard of Miami is unique in its holistic approach to service delivery which includes prevention-based services and clinical programs.
