What are recommended lighting levels for parking structures?* The National Parking Association recommends certain light levels for parking garages. These vary depending upon the area of the garage, and include: Garage entrances – 40 footcandles Vehicle entrances, stairwells and exit lobbies – 20 footcandles General parking areas – 6 footcandles Bumperwalls and roof and surface level – 2 footcandles.  Fluorescent  LED  Metal Halide * Federal, State, and Local codes govern most of these requirements and should be thoroughly investigated. Data presented herein should be considered guidelines only.
