What is the life cycle for solar systems, and the approximate payback period?* Most manufacturers will offer a degradation rate warranty for a 25 year period. It is common to have 90% minimum rated power output in the first ten, years and 80% minimum rated power output for the remaining 15 year balance. Installations today generally achieve a payback period of seven to 12 years, after taking advantage of multiple incentives and funding. Some states offer better incentive packages than others, so this payback period will fluctuate accordingly. * Federal, State, and Local codes govern most of these requirements and should be thoroughly investigated.
