City of Binghamton Water & State Street Garage Restoration - Binghamton, New York For the City of Binghamton, TimHaahs performed condition appraisal services for two parking structures – the Water Street Garage and the State Street Garage. The project also evaluated the condition of pedestrian bridges attached to both structures. The two parking structures are over forty years old. The Water Street garage is a six-tier, 672 space cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete facility. The State Street garage is a six-tier, 590 space cast-in-place post-tensioned slab concrete deck. TimHaahs evaluated both structures and found them in poor condition. TimHaahs identified a number of issues throughout the parking structures including: • Excessive floor, beam and column spalling • Overhead slab spalling • Section loss of numerous steel beams TimHaahs also identified several areas that did not meet current code requirements. TimHaahs worked with the City to prepare a budget for the project and provided an anticipated cost of restoration. TimHaahs also developed an asset management plan meant to help extend the life of the structures beyond 15 years. TimHaahs is developing restoration documents for both parking structures. |
