City of Clearwater Beach Hotel Parking Study - Clearwater, Florida For the City of Clearwater, TimHaahs provided parking consulting services for various hotels located in Clearwater Beach. As part of our analysis, TimHaahs reviewed the ordinances of similar municipalities to provide the City with concrete examples of those utilized in other locations. TimHaahs assessed the policies of eight municipalities, and noted that each structured their ordinances specifically to their locations, demographics, and surrounding amenities. TimHaahs concluded that one way to reduce parking demand is to allow a hotel property to “flex” their parking areas between a self-park operation and valet/assisted operation depending on the hotel occupancy. In addition, TimHaahs recommended a parking reduction for those hotels which provide a complimentary shuttle service for guests. Although there is not a “one-size fits all” approach to the parking issues experienced at these hotels, TimHaahs’ practices will allow the City of Clearwater to adopt appropriate basic parking requirements. As a result, the City will be better equipped to achieve the long-term plans and goals of the beachfront area.
