City of Salisbury Parking Garage Annex - Salisbury, Maryland The City of Salisbury employed TimHaahs to perform a Parking Garage Extension Feasibility Study. The study’s main objective was to determine alternative schemes for expanding the existing four level, precast concrete parking facility to meet current and future demands. ![]() TimHaahs evaluated vertical, horizontal, and a combination of both types of expansion for maximization of additional spaces in relation to the cost. TimHaahs provided schematic layouts, 3-D renderings, architectural elevations, construction cost estimates including “soft costs,” and costs of upgrades. Code, local ordinance, and ADA reviews were performed to determine upgrades or issues to be addressed. Following structural analysis of the facility, TimHaahs concluded that a vertical expansion could not be pursued. From the schemes presented, the city selected a three-column bay, and a four level horizontal addition to the facility on an existing city-owned parking lot. This choice provides approximately 230 additional spaces when combined with restriping. TimHaahs was retained as the prime design firm for the horizontal extension of the existing parking structure. Construction of the expansion began June 2001 and was completed within the year. |
