Drexel University Condition Appraisal/Restoration - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania For Drexel University, TimHaahs performed a condition appraisal on the General Services Building and Parking Facility. Subsequently, TimHaahs provided full-scale restoration design services from contract documents to construction administration and field representation. ![]() The structure, which provides parking for staff and visitors, was built in 1969 and had minimal repair work over the years. The floor structure is cast-in-place concrete, one-way joist and waffle slab system, supported by a cast-in-place concrete beam and column frame. The joists and beams are post-tensioned. The restoration work consisted mainly of shallow and full-depth slab and joist repairs, routing and sealing of joints and cracks, deck coating and sealer application, and some vertical and overhead small repairs. Construction documents were completed early in 1997, and the restoration work was divided into two phases to minimize disruption to the facility and to align with the semester vacation of students. Phase I construction was completed in 1997, and Phase II construction completed in 1998. Both came in under the budget estimate and were completed on schedule. |
