Edison Transit Village Master Plan - Edison, New Jersey The Township of Edison, New Jersey is implementing an effort to generate community input for redevelopment at the Edison train station. A design charette, which drew nearly 2,000 residents, looked at the many possibilities for developing the site around the station, while addressing concerns and challenges expressed by the community. The residents of Edison were outspoken on a number of issues including the need to fix the town’s traffic situation, as well as the need for additional commuter parking. Further, residents also expressed a desire to make Edison a more pedestrian friendly and attractive “people place”, with open sidewalks, outdoor cafes, and fountains. These features will create a more “hometown” atmosphere, as well as draw residents and visitors to the downtown area. TimHaahs has played a significant role throughout the process of creating the Edison Transit Village Master Plan, including the development of numerous concepts and renderings. The firm worked alongside the residents, stakeholders, and development team to determine which options and opportunities are best for their community. The Edison Transit Village will serve as an exciting destination not only for its residents, but for visitors from the surrounding communities as well. |
