Emory University Parking Expansion - Atlanta, Georgia For Emory University, TimHaahs was retained to design a new parking structure located adjacent to their 1599 Office Building. The parking deck is needed to serve the expansion of the Emory Inn and Conference Center. Pressed for time, the University was seeking a fast track solution so that the parking deck could be completed in less than four months. The original concept linked the new parking deck to an existing parking structure that currently serves the 1599 Office Building. However, this would have required extensive reconstruction of existing precast spandrel panels and the potential shut down of the existing garage. In addition, the new parking deck would have to use the ramping system in the existing garage for up bound and down bound circulation. ![]() After extensive study, TimHaahs recommended that the new parking structure have its own internal circulation system and be independent of the existing structure. The University accepted this solution, and the project moved forward with the intent of developing drawings fast enough to still facilitate an on time delivery. Despite the changes, the parking expansion was completed within the original schedule. The 300 space structure was built for approximately $4,600,000.
