Dalton State College Parking Structure - Dalton, GA In 2008, TimHaahs was retained as part of a design-build team led by HJ Russell to serve as prime designer for the design of four new parking structures for the Board of Regents and the Department of Adult Education. The four projects included structures for Dalton State College, DeKalb Technical College, Gainesville State College, and Southern Polytechnic State University. For each campus, the parking structure represents the first of its kind on campus. Consisting of approximately 400 spaces, the new parking structure at Dalton State University is currently under construction. The parking structure’s architecture complements the surrounding campus buildings and will be visible from the adjacent interstate, I-75. Special attention was paid to the foundation and first floor design, as the garage will be built into a hillside. Through the use of retaining walls and areaways, the parking structure remains an open air facility. Abundant, uniform lighting was also a critical element of design, as it significantly impacts passive security. The construction cost for the parking structure is approximately $5,200,000. Using the design-build, fast track approach, it is anticipated that the project will be delivered in less than six months. ![]() ![]()
