Georgia State University Garages K and N Restoration - Atlanta, Georgia For Georgia State University, TimHaahs performed condition appraisal and restoration services for Garage K and Garage N on the University’s campus in Atlanta, GA. The two steel parking structures were greater than 30 years old, and in fair condition. TimHaahs assessed each structure, and recommended repair procedure options based on extending the service life of the garages from immediate repairs, to the complete structural demolition and replacement. The major issues discovered in the condition appraisal included moisture intrusion, steel corrosion, expansion joint failure and significant concrete cracking. TimHaahs provided the University with an order of magnitude cost estimate for each option. TimHaahs determined that the most efficient and cost effective options for the University were to perform repairs to extend the life of the structures 10-15 years, or to replace the structures to extend the useful life to 60 years. As a result, the University chose to move forward with the restoration of each structure. TimHaahs worked with the University to provide repair documents for the two structures. ![]()
