Merck & Company West Parking Structure - Rahway, New Jersey TimHaahs served as the prime design firm for a 1,000 space employee parking garage at Merck & Company’s New Jersey headquarters. This is the second of five garage projects that our firm has completed for Merck.  The 291,000 square foot parking facility provides eight floors of parking and is used as an employee parking facility only. The building has a main stair/elevator tower, including two 4,000 lb. traction elevators and two secondary punch-through exit stairs. The project site is adjacent to existing rail lines, and required coordination with Amtrak during all stages of design and construction. The Merck West Garage incorporates many state-of-the-art security features such as video surveillance, voice activated intercoms, card reader equipment for both vehicles and exterior doors, emergency aid stations, and lighted signs throughout the facility. Passive security features include glass-backed elevators, open stairwells, and metal halide light fixtures. The functional layout of the parking facility features a double threaded helix ramping system with one-way traffic. The parking stalls are 8'-6" wide and are striped at a 70 degree angle. TimHaahs served as the prime design firm for this state-of-the-art parking structure which opened in August 1999. |
