Courthouse Center Garage - Miami, Florida For the Miami Parking Authority, TimHaahs designed a new state-of-the-art, multi-million dollar parking facility adjacent to the new Federal Courthouse in downtown Miami. TimHaahs provided prime design services for this 850 space facility, which included provisions for future horizontal expansion for an additional 300 spaces. The City of Miami has embarked on an initiative to revitalize its downtown through a series of projects that capitalize on the city’s unique culture and foster economic development. The Courthouse Center mixed-use project brings parking, shopping and dining options to this rapidly redeveloping area. The facility includes 850 parking spaces, as well as nearly 4,000 square feet of retail. The design features more than 36,000 square feet of office space, with amenities to serve its tenants, including the Miami Parking Authority and TimHaahs’ new Miami office, including an outdoor terrace on the 11th floor providing stunning views of Biscayne Bay. Planners understood the need to create a “gateway”, and the Miami Parking Authority sought to enhance the experience of the courthouse area by creating a community within and around the building. The design team incorporated prominent architectural features including perforated metal screening, street “liners”, and perimeter blue glass. The team took advantage of adjacent open space to create a beautifully landscaped public plaza, which now serves as an attractive gathering place for residents, employees and visitors. |
