Morris Street Parking Structure - New Brunswick, New Jersey TimHaahs designed the 820-space facility for the New Brunswick Parking Authority. This ten level facility provides parking for the adjacent Rutgers Rockoff Hall, a 13-story student housing development, which wraps the structure on the east and south sides. ![]() The integration of the garage and student housing is the project’s most unique feature. This garage is a key component in the redevelopment of this area in the city. The garage also serves an adjacent hotel and conference center, and will serve two other planned residential projects at the same intersection. TimHaahs worked closely with Rockoff Hall’s architect, Hillier, to develop the exterior façade. Special attention was dedicated to the development of the north façade, along with its main stair and elevator tower. The two firms worked closely to coordinate the ten story fire walls separating the housing and garage by six inches, and an entry/exit to the parking structure that runs underneath Rockoff Hall. ![]() The ground floor of the garage has a display area projection that creates visual interest at grade, as well as the opportunity for display. Coming attractions for nearby theaters or art projects from the nearby College of Art will be presented in the near future. The garage serves diverse user groups, and operates 24-hours a day year round. The selected pay-on-foot revenue collection system allows for the continuous operation of the garage. |
