NMIC Garage Renovation and Expansion - Suitland, Maryland TimHaahs was retained by the National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC), to provide RFP documentation for the renovation of the existing 1150 space garage, as well as the expansion of the garage to accommodate an additional 400 spaces. ![]() Working with RTKL Associates, TimHaahs designed the renovation of the crescent-shaped, precast garage. Constructed in the early 1990s, the structure contains approximately 345,000 square feet, and is connected to adjacent buildings via two pedestrian bridges. The garage is supported by concrete spread footings and the ground level is comprised of concrete slab-on-grade. The existing garage was reportedly designed to accommodate a future fourth level. A horizontal expansion was constructed during or shortly after the construction of the original garage. TimHaahs evaluated various alternatives to expand the garage to include vertical and horizontal expansion, as well as the construction of a new parking garage. TimHaahs provided NMIC with preliminary concept options to increase the existing parking supply and associated cost estimates. |
