Reading Fourth and Cherry Streets Restoration - Reading, Pennsylvania TimHaahs was retained to perform a Condition Appraisal on seven parking facilities for the Reading Parking Authority in 1996. ![]() In 1996 the Reading Parking Authority chose to concentrate on determining restoration options for the Fourth and Cherry Street Parking Facility, which is centrally located at the hub of business in the City. It is a three level, post-tensioned parking structure containing approximately 350 spaces. It was built in 1971 and has undergone restoration work over the years, but is continuing to deteriorate with age. TimHaahs presented the City with several options for restoration. The City opted to repair the parking facility to add approximately seven to ten years of useful life. The restoration work consisted of full exterior brick facade replacement, full and shallow depth removal, post-tensioning tendons splicing and replacement, routing and sealing of cracks, and application of a penetrating sealer on the driving and parking surfaces. In October 2004, the Reading Parking Authority retained TimHaahs to look at the feasibility of expanding the facility. TimHaahs recommended the garage for one level of vertical expansion. At the request of the authority, TimHaahs designed the vertical expansion, which opened in September 2005. |
