Rutgers Public Safety Parking Structure - New Brunswick, New Jersey TimHaahs provided full design services for the new parking structure adjacent to the new Rutgers Public Safety Building. TimHaahs coordinated closely with Farewell Mills Gatsch Architects, LLC for the new Public Safety building. ![]() The parking garage consists of 341 parking spaces with two retail areas on the ground floor. The parking spaces are segregated into a public parking area above and a secure police motor pool on the ground floor. The police motor pool provides parking for various Rutgers Public Safety vehicles. There are direct connections to the adjacent public safety building from the motor pool, including a sally port for the handling of prisoners. The small site required a compact garage footprint that utilized a speed ramp and a single threaded helix to distribute parking spaces throughout six and a half levels. Two rows of 90 degree parking with a two-way travel aisle are provided. ![]() The precast concrete structure utilized a medium and heavy sandblast finish with reveals on the exterior panels, as well as a dark brown thin brick. The brick color complements the adjacent Public Safety Building façade. |
