Somerset Medical Center Parking Structure - Somerville, New Jersey The expansion of Somerset Medical Center to include a new surgical wing and renovated executive suites, required that the center construct a new parking facility to satisfy increased demand. ![]() The Post Avenue Parking Garage provides 596 parking spaces on five levels, including a basement level which connects to the Medical Center through an underground tunnel. The garage is designed to expand vertically two levels. The expansions to the Medical Center required the emergency helicopter landing pad to be relocated to the parking structure roof. TimHaahs worked with BLM Architects and provided parking functional design, structural engineering, and architectural documentation. The architectural treatments included brick inlaid spandrels on all four sides and a stair tower with curtainwall on the east and west walls. The architecture matches the existing parking structure located off of Rehill Avenue. The parking facility measures 237’ x 185’ and utilizes a precast structural system. The first level of garage has enough clearance to allow emergency vehicles to pass through. Employees have a separate entrance off of Putnam Street. |
