Somerset Medical Center Parking Structure - Somerville, New Jersey The expansion of Somerset Medical Center to include a new surgical wing and renovated executive suites created a significant increase in parking demand. As a result, TimHaahs designed a new parking facility for the Medical Center to satisfy the increased demand. ![]() ![]() The Post Avenue Parking Garage provides 596 parking spaces on five levels, including a basement level connecting to the Medical Center through an underground tunnel. The garage was designed to expand vertically two levels. TimHaahs designed the roof of the structure to support the helicopter landing pad, as this needed to be relocated due to the hospital expansion. TimHaahs teamed with BLM Architects and provided parking functional design, structural engineering, and architectural documentation. The architectural treatments included brick inlaid spandrels on all four sides, and a stair tower with curtainwall on the east and west walls. The architecture matches a nearby existing parking structure. ![]() In addition, the first level of the garage has enough clearance to allow emergency vehicles to pass through. The design also provides a dedicated entrance for employees. |
