South and Spring Parking Structure - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania TimHaahs provided prime design services for the 750 space parking structure located on the corner of South and Spring Streets in downtown Harrisburg, PA. TimHaahs teamed with Pyramid Construction Services, Inc. for this design/build project. ![]() TimHaahs designed the 12-level, cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete facility on an extremely tight, urban site. Limitations imposed by surrounding buildings, streets, and alleys created many challenges through the design process. For example, the garage spans over Spring Street to the west and Kulp Alley to the north. Working closely with the Harrisburg Parking Authority and City officials, TimHaahs designed the garage to facilitate pedestrian connections to Second Street – a main thoroughfare through downtown Harrisburg – and the Capital building To assist the City in its negotiations with an adjacent landholder, TimHaahs suggested that a portion of the garage be accessed separately to accommodate a group of parking spaces reserved for that landholder. This solution helped cement the negotiation process, as well as helped the City obtain the needed easements to build the garage. |
