St. Peter's College Parking Structure Restoration Services - Jersey City, NJ For St. Peter’s College, TimHaahs provided condition appraisal and restoration services for the Montgomery Street Parking Structure in Jersey City. The purpose of these services was to determine the source and cause of a number of areas of deterioration within the structure, as well as provide solutions for their repair. As a result, the structure was able to reopen after being closed for six years. The condition appraisal determined that a number of factors had contributed to the deterioration of the cast-in-place concrete structure, including a lack of control joints, expansion joint failure, freeze-thaw cycles, and a lack of positive drain slopes which created puddles. Each of these issues contributed to cracking and leaking. In addition, the penetration of excessive chloride ions/water caused significant corrosion of metal decks and steel beam/girder sections. Restoration services for the structure included full depth concrete slab replacement, steel framing and expansion joint repairs, addition of vehicular barrier walls, staircase and floor repairs, application of traffic deck coating, and the removal of planter beds. |
