Thomas Jefferson University Parking Facility Restoration - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania TimHaahs was originally retained in the Fall of 1998 by Wills Eye Hospital, since then renamed, Jefferson Hospital & Neuroscience to perform a restoration analysis review of repair survey prepared by others and make recommendations on the parking garage located at Ninth & Locust Streets. In the Summer of 1999, after Thomas Jefferson University assumed ownership of the hospital, TimHaahs was retained to provide full-scale restoration design services for the garage. ![]() Due to funding requirements and the necessity to minimally disrupt the facility’s operation, the restoration work was prioritized over a five-phase repair program that included estimated costs for each phase. The parking facility consists of six levels with approximately 400 spaces. The structural system is a precast concrete Filigree slab with cast-in-place topping supported by steel beams and column frame. The traffic flow is single helix, two-way, 90 degree parking. The entire ground floor is occupied space serving hospital functions. ![]() The repairs consisted of full and shallow depth removal, routing and sealing of joints, ceiling repairs, addition of supplemental drains, and surface treatment with penetrating sealer. Phase I repairs were completed in December 1999; Phase II was completed in February 2002; Phase III was completed in November 2004. Phase IV thru V repairs are expected to be completed in each spring of the years 2006 and 2007. |
