Towson Town Center Garage Expansion - Towson, Maryland TimHaahs is providing engineering design services for Towson Town Center Mall. The mall is undergoing a major renovation and expansion under the General Growth Properties, Inc. (GGP). The structure will include atriums, wide open plaza entrances, and other attractions. New offices, retail space, and restaurants are being added to attract more visitors. To accommodate this growth, the existing 500 space parking facility must be expanded to double its capacity.  TimHaahs has teamed with Carter::Burgess, a national architecture firm, to help GGP deliver this ambitious undertaking. TimHaahs is responsible for the functional design layout and structural engineering of the garage expansion, including the restaurant and retail within and attached to the parking structure. The new parking structure will share a common foundation with the existing facility, and be built using precast, prestressed concrete. TimHaahs also incorporated a steel frame structure for the restaurant and retail spaces adjoining the garage footprint, while maintaining compliance and losing a major portion of the existing facility to the mall expansion and valet parking. The expansion will increase the garage capacity by 400 spaces. The project will add a drop off area adjacent to restaurants, valet parking, the pedestrian promenade, and spacious walking lanes between the restaurants, retail, and mall. This project will create more “people places”, adding vitality and ambience to make Towson Town Center a destination. |
