Valdosta State University Oak Street Garage - Valdosta, Georgia For Valdosta State University, TimHaahs served as the prime designer for two new parking structures. The parking structures were the first to be built on the Valdosta State campus. The Oak Street Parking Garage consists of approximately 1000 spaces. The new structure includes over 28,000 square feet of office space for Auxiliary Services, the University Police Department, and the main data center for the university. These occupied spaces were designed over a flood plain, as the parking deck is sited close to a river that runs through campus. Incorporating these uses into an efficient, user-friendly design was the primary goal of the design team. ![]() The new structures were both designed to complement the Spanish Mission style architecture of the existing campus buildings. In addition, the Oak Street garage was constructed along an existing adjacent stream. Exterior lighting was installed along the side of the garage to light the sidewalk running along the stream. The university plans to preserve and develop this area as a gathering place for students and visitors, providing pedestrians with a safe and convenient pathway from the garage to the main part of campus. The project was delivered on time and within budget.
