York Hospital Parking Facility - York, Pennsylvania

TimHaahs served as the prime design firm for a 1,500 space parking facility for York Hospital. Wellspan Health/York Hospital replaced their existing 520-space parking garage with a new state-of-the-art parking structure that almost tripled the facility’s parking capacity.



The new patient/visitor parking garage is sited on a steep sidehill, with an elevation change of up to 40 feet. Adding to the complexity of the project, the adjacent roadway separating the hospital and garage remained in operation during construction. TimHaahs designed the east and south sides of the structure using a permanent earth retention system with soldier piles, tie backs, and timber lagging.





The new structure provides dedicated physician parking at grade, staff parking at the 2nd and 3rd tiers, and patient and visitor parking at the 4th and 5th tiers. The top tier (6th) will be reserved for overflow parking. The terraced site allowed TimHaahs to design the functional circulation with separate and dedicated entries for staff, patients and visitors.



The construction of the parking facility provided York Hospital with the essential infrastructure support its growing number of patients, visitors, and staff.
