How can the appropriate functional design improve pedestrian and vehicular safety?

Posted on

An efficient design can reduce the overall size of the parking facility, significantly impacting a number of operational features. This effective design accomplishes the following goals to improve pedestrian and vehicular comfort and safety.

  • Minimizing internal walls to increase visibility for drivers and pedestrians while minimizing isolated areas.
  • Limiting interaction, and therefore potential conflicts, between vehicles as well as pedestrians.
  • Improving the vehicular level of service through the garage via properly designed ramps.
  • Installing appropriate, strategically-located signage, visible to drivers and pedestrians.
  • Safely guiding pedestrian traffic flow toward their desired destinations.
