“Marketing Green Parking in the Social Media Age”

Posted on

The International Parking Institute’s monthly publication The Parking Professional recently featured a column written by our Director of Corporate Development and the Green Parking Council’s (GPC) new Marketing Chair, Megan Leinart, LEED AP BD+C,  on marketing green parking in today’s social media age. The column was featured in IPI’s March 2015 issue. The column discusses 2015 being a pivotal milestone for green and sustainable parking. The first class of certified green garages will be presented at the 2015 IPI Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, June 29-July 2. The newly-minted partnership between IPI, GPC, and the U.S. Green Building Council, will bring the idea of sustainability and parking to thousands of institutions, corporations, government entities, and transit agencies across the U.S. and beyond.

Due to the nature of this transformative year in the green parking era, social media involvement is essential. Social media is one of the most important formats for sharing information. The article discusses how social media and other online portals provide a forum to present new thoughts and showcase groundbreaking concepts and projects, while creating a faster and more convenient channel to communicate with each other and continue to learn together. It is exciting to think of this platform as an additional way to communicate, educate ourselves, and bring recognition to the parking industry.
