Miami Design District Museum Garage Wins IPMI Award

Posted on

Last month, TimHaahs attended the annual International Parking & Mobility Institute Conference (IPMI) in Anaheim, CA. We were thrilled to accept the award for Best Design of a Mixed or Multi-Use Parking & Transportation Facility at IPMI’s awards program. TimHaahs provided full architectural design as the Prime Architect and Engineer of Record for this project.

The Miami Design District is known for their modern architecture, upscale interior design and innovative art. Luxury shopping boutiques, cafes, and restaurants also surround the local area.  The garage showcases five unique façade designs, inspired from the French surrealist parlor game, Exquisite Corpse (Cadavre Exquis), which involves various artists creating images with no knowledge of what the other artists have drawn and then producing one image whose visual ideas don’t necessarily match but come together as one playful composition. TimHaahs worked closely with façade fabricators, Zahner and five designers to turn their conceptual designs into real, life-size artwork. The five designers included WORKac, J. Mayer H., Nicolas Buffe, Clavel Arquitectos, and Keenen/Riley.

This year marks over twenty-five years of affiliation with IPMI, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of such a groundbreaking organization.
