The third largest of the United Arab Emirates, Sharjah faces a parking crisis that impacts the emirate’s growth and economic vitality. The lack of effective parking resources has severely curtailed transportation and real estate development. Sharjah Holdings requested that TimHaahs get engaged on a city and neighborhood planning level to provide recommendations for long-term solutions. The firm performed an extensive study, analyzing the parking conditions and the underlying causes of the current situation.

TimHaahs created a conceptual mixed-use model featuring structured parking, retail, open space, and offices, to serve as a plan for development of a live-work-play environment. TimHaahs created “Urban Design Guidelines” to effectively implement planning and architectural recommendations. These guidelines and presentations demonstrate how parking management and design strategies can utilize parking to drive economic development and improve the quality of life.
