Philadelphia Zoo Project Wins IPI Award of Excellence!

Posted on

The International Parking Institute (IPI) recently announced the winners of the 2015 IPI Awards of Excellence at its annual conference in Las Vegas. We are honored to have received a top award for the Philadelphia Zoo Centennial District Intermodal Transportation Center project.

Awarded in the category of Best Design of a Parking Facility with Fewer than 800 Spaces, The Centennial District facility includes 683 parking spaces, serving Philadelphia Zoo patrons and the public. The design features a pedestrian walkway leading to the garage levels, aesthetic façade enhancements, and unique branding elements throughout including animal-themed parking levels, and a large mural designed by the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. The project also featured a teardrop shaped plaza area which provides an attractive community gathering space outside the facility, and provides a connection between the garage and the public spaces. Each of these features contributes to a more walkable, vibrant environment for Zoo visitors, while creating an attractive and pedestrian-friendly public space for visitors and residents of the surrounding community. Our firm served as the prime design firm, architect of record, and structural engineer for this groundbreaking project, working with The Remington Group, SPG3 Architects, and Pennoni Associates.

We are thrilled to have been recognized by IPI with this important honor, and we would like to congratulate each of this year’s Awards of Excellence winners!
